The screen time problem in the first six years

Why the years from one to six matter so much. And why a simple wooden block can help a child more than a bright screen. A calm look at the facts, with no guilt.

The World Health Organization recommends no screen time at all for children under two, and no more than one hour a day for children aged two to four. That is not because screens are evil it is because every hour on a screen is an hour not spent on the hands-on play that builds focus, language, and problem solving in a young brain.

The good news: you do not need to remove screens overnight. Small, steady swaps a stacker instead of a show, ten minutes of shared play before dinner add up fast. That is the whole idea behind our six step method.
